First Time Setup
First Time Using FiveM?¶
Welcome to ImagineRP! Whether this is your first time diving into GTA V RP or you're new to our city, we've put together a simple guide to get you started on the right foot.
After creating your character and gaining control, we recommend making sure the following are set up:
One Important Rule: Never Break Roleplay!
If you’re having technical issues or other difficulties, do your best to roleplay through it as your character. If it’s really challenging, you can use /gooc to speak out of character, but this should be a last resort. You can also ask for help in the Discord or use /report to notify an admin or moderator if you're experiencing issues.

1. Enable GTA V Voice Chat¶
By default, voice chat is turned off in GTA V. Head to the Pause Menu > Game Settings and scroll down to voice chat. Make sure it's enabled, set the volume to a comfortable level, and we recommend turning on push to talk for a better experience.
2. Set Your Keybinds for Voice Chat¶
The default push-to-talk key is N. However, if you experience issues like your mic getting stuck, consider setting a secondary keybind (something like ` or an unused key) to prevent that from happening.
3. Get Familiar with Your Inventory¶
You’ll use your inventory a lot! Open it by pressing F2 or F3. You can interact with items by right-clicking and selecting "use," or dragging them to the use button.
4. Set Up Your Phone¶
In Los Santos, your phone is essential for many activities. Make sure it’s set up and easy to access. You'll be using it for everything from calling Ubers to managing jobs.
5. Learn How to Use the Third Eye¶
The is your way of interacting with the world. Hold Left Alt and hover over items or areas to see what you can interact with. For example, you’ll need this to exit your apartment. Beware though, there are many ways of intreracting with various features of the server! Check for on-screen prompts. The default interaction key is E.
Some features require you to have, or use, an item to interact (for example, you need to "use" your card from your inventory at an ATM to access it.)
6. Get Comfortable with the Command & Chat Bar¶
Press T to open the chat bar. All commands start with a /. Whether you're chatting or using commands, this will be your go-to tool.
7. Optimize Your Graphics¶
If you're experiencing graphical issues or slow UI response, switch your display to Full Screen Exclusive mode for better performance.
